 2020 Charity of the Month

Woman's Coalition

Coalition for Women's Cancers at Southampton Hospital was formed recognizing the need for a community network in support of women’s cancers. The local, volunteer-driven group is comprised of professionals and concerned friends with varied backgrounds and talents. This group has come together to create and sustain a supportive network for women affected by breast, ovarian and uterine cancers.  The organization focuses on early detection and empowerment to bring about better health care and an improved quality of life.

The CWC is headed by Susan Barry Roden with Stacy Quarty as the group’s Vice President, Lee Alleluia as Secretary and Gwen McGowan as Treasurer.

Helping Makes U Happy

Helping makes this the happiest place on earth

The WELLNESS FOUNDATION through groundbreaking education, support, and inspiration, has been empowering children and adults to take control of their health and build a community where healthy choices are accessible and affordable.
Founded in 2005 by Douglas Mercer, a visionary man committed to building a healthy community, Wellness Foundation is a small team of passionate wellness warriors doing BIG things! Our forward-thinking team and world class advisory council is made up of pioneers, visionaries, and trailblazers on the cutting edge of plant-powered health and wellness.

They teach people about the power they have to take control of their health and, as a result, help them to transform their lives. Within our community, we’re working hard to end the trend of obesity and the chronic diseases associated with it—and they have ignited a spark in other wellness warriors around the country who want to bring our world class programs to their communities.
Wellness Foundation is in the business of helping people build happy, healthy lives and they are committed to helping them prevent and reverse chronic disease through the power of plant-based nutrition.

The Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai leads progressive research studies while providing comprehensive, personalized care to children and adults with autism spectrum disorder. Working together with parents and families, they will identify the causes of autism and advance effective treatments.

Founded through the generous support of the Beatrice and Samuel A. Seaver Foundation, the Seaver Autism Center is home to a multidisciplinary team of experts who use genetics, molecular biology, model systems, neuroimaging, and experimental therapeutics to personalize the optimal treatment plan for each patient. The Center also provides opportunities to participate in research studies that seek to better understand the causes of autism spectrum disorder and improve treatment options.

i-tri girls is helping to empower girls and transform lives. i-tri girls learn to believe in themselves, and that can change everything. Along the journey to the finish line of a youth distance triathlon, our girls discover that they are capable, strong and brave. They make connections that show them that while they are unique, they’re definitely not alone. Side by side, with new friends, i-tri girls learn to go inward to find their own strengths and to help others find theirs. i-tri girls are not triathletes. Rather, we use the sport of triathlon to give them a goal that is seemingly impossible, that is overwhelming and scary. And then we give them the physical and mental tools to achieve that goal.

i-tri is free.
All equipment, training and transportation are provided for free to every girl because we believe personal circumstances should not hold any girl back from reaching her potential. That makes i-tri different. It isn’t about where you come from. It’s about where you are going. No one has to ask for a scholarship or a favor, and we empower our girls to help themselves, as they participate in fundraising throughout the year.

New Hope Rising was founded in 2014 when Co-Founders Danielle Bruschi and Lauren McNamara joined together with a shared vision of creating an innovative model for recovery housing programs on Long Island. New Hope Rising Recovery Housing Programs were created in response to a shortage of safe, supportive and structured housing for individuals with substance-use disorders seeking to build a foundation for long term recovery in our community.

In June of 2017 of New Hope Rising opened the Therapy and Wellness Center in Westhampton Beach with the belief that everyone should have access to quality behavioral healthcare and wellness services. The Center’s purpose is to provide a high level of care and affordable services to all those seeking help, support, and wellness in our community.
